While this may not be one of our traditional success stories, this is quite possibly further evidence that we have always been here and that in and of itself is a success for our community.

Trans Female Skeleton

Archaeologists have discovered a 5,000-year-old skeleton which they believe may be the remains of a transgender person.

Men’s bodies from that age and culture are usually found buried with their heads towards the west and with weapons.

But this skeleton was found with its head towards the east and was surrounded by domestic jugs – as women’s bodies from the time are usually found.

At a press conference in Prague yesterday, archaeologists theorised that the person may have been transgender or ‘third sex’.

Kamila Remišová, the head of the research team, said: “From history and ethnology, we know that when a culture had strict burial rules they never made mistakes with these sort of things.”

The article also states that:

This is not the first time a skeleton has been found buried as a member of the opposite sex. One woman from the Mesolithic period, who was assumed to be a warrior, was found buried with weapons.

“transgender is new trend” go fuck yourselvea

Trans people have always existed.

The lack of proper firearm handling on the behalf of the police is astounding. I’ve bitched before about irresponsible gun owners, but these aren’t just civilians; they’re the authorities. These clowns want to play dress-up in camo and have a bunch of military toys, but they aren’t soldiers. They’re a joke. Any soldier would know that you do not aim a weapon at anything that you don’t intend to destroy. Hell, any responsible civilian firearm owner would know that as well. How many photos have you seen so far of the police aiming their guns at unarmed protesters and media?

The police want to dress up and play army, but being a soldier is not a game. They’re fucking up so hard in crowd control and firearms handling, and shitting all over the rights of the media to broadcast and the rights of the citizenry to protest.

"You’re 6’4", 240-pound Marine, and you’re injured, and you need a Marine next to you to carry you back to safety, and the Marine next to you is a 5’4" woman who weighs 115 pounds,"

No problem.

in before “well most women can’t do that” because NEWS FLASH most men can’t either, that’s why it’s a highly specialized career that requires a lot of devoted training

One of my former coworkers was a very slim girl only a tad taller than me, and she was training to be a fireman, and she could lift the biggest dude on my crew like this who was around 6’5 and super bulky. One time she picked him up and ran around the crew room with him for about 5 minutes before letting him down.

Even though I haven’t exercised in over a year—if you count DDR—and I’m incredibly petite (5’0”, 100 lbs), I can carry most guys. If they’re under 200 lbs, I can run with them on my back for 5 blocks, but I can walk for a mile. Once they’re about 250, I can only walk about a block or two before my spine feels like it’s about to break. If I were in a survival situation and their life depended on it, I could go on much further, until my legs gave out.

It’s why I hate the bullshit that women are inherently weak. Nah, man. Nah.

Tangentially related to the blog’s theme, but I see the “women are too weak to handle the normal armor” comment come up often enough that it made it into the Female Armor Rhetoric Bingo.

So yeah, for the record: women are not significantly weaker than men. Especially if we talk about people with lots of training in terms of fighting and/or saving lives. Especially especially if we consider that there are techniques and moves, like this one, specifically designed for smaller people to handle some heavy weight.

And that’s all said while we ignore that most armors are not as heavy as common myth lets us believe!

My fireteam partner for the firefighter carry (the style of lift pictured above) was a woman. I carried her and then she carried me, no problem.

The phrase “rubber bullets” is often used to describe what are more accurately termed “rubber-coated metal bullets”, heavy steel projectiles with a minimal coating of 1mm or 2mm of rubber, that are regularly used to lethal effect alongside — not instead of — live ammunition.

Rubber-coated metal bullets are fired from metal tubes placed on the end of high-velocity rifles such as the M-16s commonly used by Israeli troops. Tubes contain around 8 rubber-coated, cylindrical, steel projectiles, which are powered by blank rounds fired from the gun’s magazine.

Writing in the medical journal, The Lancet, [doctors] said firing the bullets at civilians made it “impossible to avoid severe injuries to vulnerable body regions such as the head, neck and upper torso, leading to substantial mortality, morbidity and disability.”

They added: “We reported a substantial number of severe injuries and fatalities inflicted by use of rubber bullets when vulnerable upper-body regions such as the head, neck and upper torso were struck.

“This type of ammunition should therefore not be considered a safe method of crowd control.”

CNN’s Jake Tapper Telling the Truth about Ferguson

Another lesson from crowd control operations: People don’t often spontaneously riot on their own. The authorities will usually escalate a gathering or protest into a riot through intimidation and posturing, rather than quell it and keep peace. All of the tear gas and aggressive tactics that have been deployed since this began could have been avoided had the operation been handled by someone who knew what they were doing, rather than a bunch of incompetent bullies. Like Jake Tapper said, it’s all so unnecessary.

Granted, the whole thing could have been avoided in the first place had the police not shot an unarmed citizen to death.

On Trapping a Crowd

I’m worried about what’s happening in Ferguson tonight. I’d been watching a live news feed. There was gunfire, allegedly not coming from the police. The media was lead out of the area, and were told they wouldn’t be able to return. I’m presuming it’s because the police are about to conduct some sort of operation — maybe a sweep to find a shooter.

From what was reported, it seemed like the police have trapped civilians in their area of operation, giving them no way out. As someone who has this sort of training, I’m letting you know that trapping people is huge mistake in crowd control operations. Considering the fiasco they’ve created so far, it wouldn’t surprise me that it’s something the police are genuinely doing. When crowds get trapped, they panic, like cornered animals. When you don’t let someone flee, you’ve left them with no choice but to fight.

This is a bad equation that’s been formulated. I just hope nobody else gets hurt.
